Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 3, 2026
myKRUE is an app that helps parents and caregivers in the Pittsburgh area find youth sports, activities, and family events for their children, keep track of them, and share plans with families they know. It is operated by myKRUE LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company ("myKRUE", "we", "us").
This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. It applies to the myKRUE app and the services behind it.
Who the app is for
myKRUE is for adults. Only a parent, guardian or other adult caregiver can create an account. Children do not have accounts, cannot sign in, and do not use the app. Information about a child is entered and managed by an adult in their family.
What we collect
About you, the adult:
- Your email address and password (the password is stored only in a protected, one-way form we cannot read), or the account identifier Apple or Google gives us if you sign in with them. If you sign in with Apple, we also keep a token from Apple so that, if you delete your account, we can tell Apple to cancel the sign-in. It is used for nothing else and is removed when that is done.
- Your first and last name.
- A profile photo, if you add one. See "Profile photos".
- What you told us you use the app for (kids' activities, high school scores, staying in the loop).
- Your notification choices.
About your family:
- A family name, and your home area: the town or ZIP code you choose from a list. We use the center of that town or ZIP code to estimate distances. We never ask for, and do not store, your street address.
- How far you are willing to travel.
- An invite code, so families you know can connect with you.
- A family photo, if a parent adds one. The families you chose to connect with see it. Until one is added, they see the profile photo of the parent who started your family, if that parent added one. See "Family photo".
About each child you add:
- A first name or nickname, a birth year (and the month, if you add it), and, if you give them, grade and gender. We use these to show programs a child is eligible for. We never ask for a full date of birth.
- The sports and activities they are interested in, how much they have played each one if you say, and preferences such as travel time and price.
- A photo, if you put one on a child's picture. It is optional, it is not used to match programs, and only the adults in your family see it. See "Profile photos".
What you do in the app:
- Programs you save, organizations and schools you follow, and the plans you mark (Interested, Going, Attended).
- Families you connect with (your Families), groups you make or join, when a family joins or leaves a group you are in, and what you post in groups, team chats and your chats with your Families, including photos.
- Reviews you write, posts and reviews you report, and the parents you block in groups.
- Messages you send us from Help and feedback: what you wrote, what you said it was about, which version of the app you have, and whether you said we may email you back. Each is emailed to our support inbox. Your name and email address are put in that email only if you said we may reply.
- Team calendars you connect: the calendar link you paste (which we keep secret and never show back to anyone), and from each calendar only its name and each event's title, time, place and address. We do not store the rest of what a team calendar contains, such as notes, rosters, or other families' details. Fields you add for a game or team are stored too. While you are connecting a team, the app looks at what you last copied to see whether it is a calendar link, so you do not have to paste it. Anything else you copied is ignored and does not leave your phone.
- A code that lets us send notifications to your phone (a "push token"), linked to your account while you are signed in on that phone.
- How the app is used: which screens are opened, and a short list of actions, such as opening a program, saving it, pressing Sign up, connecting a team calendar, or posting in a group. With it come the kind of phone, the versions of its system (iOS or Android) and of the app, the language and the time zone. This is recorded under a random number made on your phone, not under your name, email or account, and that number is replaced when you sign out. It never includes anything about a child, anything you type (a search, a post, a review), anyone's name, or your town.
- When something in the app goes wrong: the kind of error and where in the app's code it happened, under the same random number, so we can fix it. It does not include what was on your screen or anything you typed.
What stays on your phone and never reaches us:
- A picture you put on a group. It is stored only on your device. (A profile photo, and a photo you post in a chat, are different: see "Profile photos" and "Photos in chats".)
- The morning schedule alert, which your phone schedules itself.
- Small preferences such as a dismissed tip.
What we do not collect: your phone's location (getting directions opens your maps app, which asks you itself if it needs to), your contacts, advertising identifiers, or browsing activity outside the app. The app contains no advertising, nothing in it follows you into other apps or websites, and your screen is never recorded.
How we use it
- To show programs that fit each child, explain why they fit, and estimate how far they are.
- To remind you about deadlines, ask how a program your child went to was once it is over, and tell you about new programs, news from families you know, posts, scores and changes, in the app and, if you allow it, as notifications on your phone. Notifications are not sent between 9 pm and 7 am Pittsburgh time. A notification can appear on your lock screen. One about a program for your child can show that child's first name, and one about a post shows who posted and how the post begins.
- To show your team schedules in one place.
- To let you connect and share with families you choose.
- To keep the service safe: to review reported posts and reviews and prevent abuse.
- To see how the app is used and where it fails, so we can fix what is broken or confusing and improve it.
We do not sell your information, share it for advertising, or use it to build profiles for anyone else.
Who can see what
- Other adults in your family. You can add another parent or caregiver to your family, with a one-time code or by inviting a family you are connected with. An adult you add signs in with their own account and sees everything in your family: your children's details and photos, team schedules, saved programs, plans, groups and connections. You see each other's profile photos. You choose what they join as. A parent can change all of it, the same as you. A caregiver sees the same things, can save a program to your family's list and can post in your groups under their own name, but cannot change anything else about your family, and is sent few alerts unless they turn more on. A parent in the family can change which of the two another adult is. The parents already in the family are told when someone joins, and the parent who started the family can remove them. Only add someone who looks after your children.
- Your Families (families whose request you accepted, who accepted yours, or who used a one-time invite you shared) can see your name, your family photo if you added one (or, until you do, the profile photo of the parent who started your family), the plans you choose to share, and your teams' games (sport, time and place). With each plan and each team's games they also see the first name of the child it is for, as you entered it; never a birth year, grade, gender or a child's photo. Sharing a plan is off unless you turn it on for that plan. When you share a plan, you can limit it to chosen families you are connected with, groups you made, or both; then only those families, and the families in those groups, see it. If every family and group you chose is gone (a connection ended, a group deleted), the plan stops being shared rather than reaching all your Families. When you share a team's games, you can limit them to groups you made. Sharing a team's games is on by default and can be turned off for each team; the team's name and the calendar link are never shared. Families who are only in the same group or team chat as you, and not connected with you, do not see your children's names.
- When your family connects with another family, the families either of you is connected with can see that in their feed: your family's name, the other family's name, and when. A family that is not connected with you sees only your family's name: not your page, your photo, your children or anything you share. Either family can turn this off under Profile, More, Your family in the feed, and if either does, it is not shown. Only connections made from November 3, 2026 are told.
- You have a private chat with each family you are connected with. Only the adults of your two families, parents and caregivers, see your name and what you post there, including photos. It ends, and what was posted in it is deleted, when either family removes the connection.
- Members of a group or team chat see your name and what you post there, including photos. They do not see your family photo unless you are also connected with them. The families in a group can see which other families are in it, including families they are not connected with. When a family joins a group or is no longer in it, the other families in the group are told, in the group's chat and in their feed, and an invitation to a group shows which families are already in it.
- A family that invites you to a group, or to join their family, is told your answer, including when you decline. A request to connect that you decline tells no one.
- A review you write is shown to other users without your name or your child's name. It may be marked "Verified attendee", which means only that you marked the program Going or Attended in myKRUE. Another user can report a review: it is then hidden from their family and read by our moderator, and the person who wrote it is not told who reported it.
- A program can show how many families are going, such as "14 families on myKRUE are going". That count is only families who use myKRUE and marked the program Going or Attended, it names no one, and it counts your family whether or not you share your plan. A town is named, such as "6 from Peters Township", only when at least 5 families from that town are counted.
- Our team. To give support and to keep the service safe, a member of the myKRUE team can look up an account and see what is in it: the adults' names and email addresses, your children's first names, birth years and sports, your home area, teams, connections and groups, and about when each adult last signed in or used the app. They can correct that information, suspend an account, or delete an account or a family, for example when you ask us to. They cannot see a password or a team's calendar link, and they read a post or a review, or look at a family photo, only when it has been reported. The tools they use do not show profile photos; deleting an account or a family for you deletes its photo files too. This access needs a second sign-in step, and each use of it is recorded. When someone makes an account, our team is sent an email with their name, the town they picked, how they signed in, and how far through sign-up they got; it never includes their email address or their children. When an account or a family is deleted, the names in that record are removed with it.
- No one can search for your family or your children. Families connect with an invite code shared outside the app, or, for a family in the same group or team chat as you, by asking to connect from inside the app. A request asked that way says which group you are both in, you decide whether to accept it, and a family can ask you only once. A signed-in person who opens a one-time invite you shared is shown your family's name before they decide to connect, and nothing else about your family.
- Organizations listed in the app do not see your information or your children's.
Profile photos
You can put a photo on your own profile and on each child's. It is optional. Before it leaves your phone, the app removes the hidden details a photo carries, such as where and when it was taken, and makes it small. It is stored privately, and only the adults in your family can see it: the other parents and caregivers you added. No other family, group, team chat or organization sees it, and it is never shown beside a review or a plan you share. There is one exception: while your family has no family photo, the families you are connected with see the profile photo of the parent who started your family in its place (see "Family photo"). No other adult's photo, and no child's photo, is ever shown to another family.
A parent can change or remove a child's photo. A caregiver sees the family's photos and can change only their own. When you remove a photo, replace it, remove a child, or delete your account, the photo is deleted. If you leave a family, you no longer see its photos and it no longer sees yours.
Family photo
A parent can add one photo for the whole family. It is optional. The only people who can see it are the families you chose to connect with, and the adults in your own family. Nobody else can: not a family in a group or team chat that you are not connected with, not someone holding your invite before you connect, not an organization, and no one who is signed out. If you remove a family from your Families, it can no longer load your photo, and it is removed from that family's phones the next time they open the app.
Before it leaves your phone, the app removes the hidden details a photo carries, such as where and when it was taken. A caregiver sees the family photo and cannot change it. When you replace or remove it, or delete your account and your family goes with it, the photo is deleted, unless it is being kept for a report (see "How long we keep it").
A family photo usually shows your children, so choose one you are happy for the families you connect with to see. A family you are connected with can report it. It is then hidden from that family and looked at by our team, who can remove it. Until your family adds a family photo, the families you are connected with see the profile photo of the parent who started your family instead, the same way and to the same people, and can report it the same way. Once a family photo is added, it takes that photo's place. Every other adult's profile photo, and each child's, stays inside your family (see "Profile photos").
Photos in chats
You can post a photo in a group or team chat. Before it leaves your phone, the app removes the hidden details a photo carries, such as where and when it was taken. It is stored privately and only the families in that chat can see it, through links that expire. When you delete the post, or your account, the photo is deleted, unless it is being kept for a report (see "How long we keep it"). A reported photo is hidden from the person who reported it and reviewed.
Photos of children need care. Only post a photo of another family's child if that child's parent is OK with it, and if a parent asks you to take one down, please do. A parent can also report it.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of companies to run myKRUE. They process information only to provide their service to us.
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and server functions, in the United States.
- Apple and Google provide Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google, if you use them. Apple delivers notifications to iPhones, and Google delivers them to Android phones through its Firebase Cloud Messaging service. Each receives the phone's push token and what the notification says, in order to deliver it.
- GitHub hosts our website, mykrue.com, including the page an invite link opens. Like any website host, it sees the internet address your device connects from. That page shows the invite code that is in the link and sends nothing back to us.
- Resend delivers the emails we send you, such as the code that confirms your email address when you make an account. It receives your email address and what the email says. It also delivers the messages you send us from Help and feedback to our support inbox, and receives what those say.
- PostHog records how the app is used and the errors it runs into, so we can see what works and fix what does not. It receives what is listed above under "How the app is used" and "When something in the app goes wrong", and nothing else: not your name, email or account, nothing about a child, and nothing you type. Like any online service, it sees the internet address your phone connects from; we have it set not to work out a location from it. We do not use it for advertising.
- Anthropic provides the AI model behind "Ask about this". When you ask a question about a program, it receives your question, the program's details, and, if you are asking for a particular child, that child's first name, age, grade and gender, so it can answer whether they are eligible. It is not given your name, email, address or other families' information. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, information sent to it this way is not used to train its models. Searching in Find does not use it: what you type there is matched against the listings on your phone and is not sent anywhere.
Program and event information
The details of programs, events, and places come from organizations' own websites, catalogs and listings, read by our software and by people who read them for us. High school scores come from a public score feed. None of it is information about you. Each listing shows where its information came from and when it was last checked.
Organizations change and cancel things without telling us, so a listing can be out of date or wrong. Confirm with the organization before you sign up, pay, or go. Our Terms of Service say more.
We do not process registrations or payments. Signing up happens on the organization's own site, and directions open in your maps app. Those belong to other companies and have their own privacy policies; what you give them is between you and them.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account exists. You can delete a child, a team calendar, a post, a review or a connection at any time, and it is removed. When you delete your account, it is removed as described below. Copies may remain in encrypted backups for a short period before they are overwritten. The record of how the app was used is not tied to your account, so it is not removed with it; it does not say who you are. Messages you sent us from Help and feedback are deleted from the app's records with your account; the copy that was emailed to our support inbox is kept like any email you send us.
There is one exception. If a post, a review or a family photo is reported to us and appears to break the law, for example a sexual image of a child, we take it down and keep a copy of the post, the photo, and the name and email address of the account that posted it, so that we can report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children or to law enforcement. The law requires us to report such material and to keep what we reported for a year. That copy stays even if the post, the photo or the account is later deleted. Only our moderator sees it, and it is shared only with the authorities it is reported to.
Your choices and rights
- See and edit your information and your children's in the app (Profile).
- Choose which notifications you get (Profile, Alerts), and turn phone notifications off in your phone's Settings.
- Turn sharing on or off for each plan and each team.
- Delete your account in the app: Profile, More, Delete account. This deletes your account, your profile photo and the photos you posted in chats, and, if no other adult is in your family, your family and everything in it: its family photo, children and their photos, saves, plans, connections with other families, groups and posts, reviews, and team schedules. If another adult is in your family, the family stays with them.
- Ask us a question, or ask for a copy of your information, at support@mykrue.com.
Children's privacy
myKRUE is not directed to children and does not let children create accounts or use the app. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The limited information about a child in myKRUE is provided by their parent or guardian, is used to find activities for that child, is shown by first name only to the families you connect with, beside the plans and team games you share with them, and can be changed or deleted by the parent at any time. If you believe a child has given us information directly, contact us at support@mykrue.com and we will delete it.
Security
Information is sent over encrypted connections and stored with access controls that keep each family's data to that family and the people it chooses to share with. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects it, as the law requires.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above, and tell you in the app before a significant change takes effect.
